Curator note — MG

I am revising my music memory and found that quite often I stumble upon songs that had a different origin. And upon hearing the original it becomes clear why the cover is the better option. Here is a list of my covers that beat the original

1
I Dream Of Wires

Dont get me wrong Gary Numans version is great too - But Robert Palmer more subtle version, is a great listen

2
Hurt

Never was a big fan of Nine Inch nails to start with, but Johnny Cash definitely hit all the right notes on this one.

3
Transmission

The original by Joy Division is great, but Hot chip's version just has a bit more atmosphere to it, and what a great appreciation this is to a classic

4
Bette Davis Eyes

Never really listened to the original by Jackie DeShannon more than a couple of times, never had too much appeal, this one is like inhaling 80's energy.

5
Take Me to the River

David Byrne really nails this one, Al green might have too, but this is the one that got stuck in my ears

6
Gin and Juice

If you haven't heard it, give it a go! Snoop dogs tune in a crazy Bluegrass version

7
I Will Survive

Cake surely managed to revitalise this hit - again! it wasn't really my favourite Cake song, their catalogue is quite good among the lesser known tracks I should say.
